NELL C. TILTON

Statement

As artists, we are always observing, absorbing and taking note of our environment whether conscious or unconscious. As an abstract artist, my response is often instinctive and spontaneous, expressing the colors, shapes and textures of the landscape and environs with my materials. I’ve been fortunate to be able to create art, in different locations, with friends. The smells, the feel of the air, the plant life, architecture, sounds and sights all contribute to the aura of a particular place and invite all the senses to participate. “Wanderings” is the result of those encounters and the response to them.

Some of the paintings in the exhibit were produced or initiated in the actual environs, others were created at home, in my studio, recalling the experience and the imagery of the landscape and surroundings.
